Libya: Former ambassador jailed for 10 years for corruption

The Tripoli Criminal Court has sentenced a former head of Libya’s mission to Italy to 10 years in prison after convicting him of illicit financial gain, the public prosecutor’s office announced on Sunday evening.

In a statement, the office said that the court considered the facts attributed to the mission official; the court examined the evidence of abuse of the powers of the position entrusted to him and the evidence of obtaining illicit financial gain through his professional activities.
