More than 350 people have died from cholera in the past nine months, a 239 percent increase on the same period last year, Nigerian health officials said today.

The number of deaths has reached 359 and the number of suspected cholera cases has also risen to 10,837 from 3,387 last year, mostly children under the age of five, the statement said.
