The difficulties related to residency permits and education have led many Sudanese to leave Egypt and return voluntarily to their homeland, amid reports of advances by the Sudanese army in parts of Khartoum at the expense of the Rapid Support Forces.
According to some returnees, the lack of income sources, rising living costs, and the closure of Sudanese schools have pushed hundreds of families to return. Observers noted that hundreds are returning daily, with approximately 12,000 Sudanese having returned last week.
In this context, the Egyptian ambassador to Sudan, Hani Salah, stated that Egypt has received around 1.2 million Sudanese since the outbreak of the conflict, in addition to thousands of others who have been living in Egypt for years.
Sudanese sources in Egypt also reported that the Sudanese embassy has launched a voluntary return project for Sudanese wishing to go back.
