Brazilian judiciary lifts ban on X platform

Brazil’s Supreme Court has lifted its ban on the X platform, owned by US billionaire Elon Musk, after it was blocked for more than a month in a dispute over anti-disinformation.

Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes said: ‘I authorise the immediate return of the activities’ of the social media platform, following a settlement in which it paid millions of dollars in fines imposed on it for failing to comply with court rulings, according to AFP.

The judge gave the telecoms regulator 24 hours to restore access to the platform. Brazil is X’s largest market in Latin America, with around 22 million users.
