The U.S. government has imposed new sanctions on Iran in response to its missile attack on Israel on October 1. These measures target what is known as Iran’s “shadow fleet,” which it uses to illegally transport oil.
The U.S. Treasury Department provided detailed information about a network of companies and vessels operating on behalf of Iran, extending from China to Malaysia and other countries.
In this context, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that these sanctions aim to disrupt the flow of revenue used by the Iranian regime to finance its nuclear program, develop missiles, support terrorist groups, and perpetuate conflict in the region.
