At least 16 people have been killed, including 3 women and 2 children, in renewed tribal violence in northwestern Pakistan.
The Kurram region, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has been experiencing intermittent clashes between Sunni and Shia tribes for several months, resulting in hundreds of deaths over the years.
A senior official reported that a Sunni convoy, under the protection of paramilitary forces, was attacked, leading to the deaths of 14 people and injuring 6 others. Border police responded to the attack, killing two assailants, who were found to be Shia.
