The President of India, Draupadi Murmu, has arrived in Algeria for a four-day visit.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received her at the Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers in the presence of a number of senior officials and members of the government, the Algerian news agency (Waj) reported.

The visit is of great importance given the historic momentum that has contributed to the consolidation of relations,’ the agency said in a report on the occasion.

The volume of trade exchange between the two countries has hovered around $2 billion in recent years, it said, noting that areas of cooperation include infrastructure, heavy industry, mechanical industry, hydrocarbons, electricity, mines and railways.
