The European Union announced that it is working to simplify the Schengen visa requirements for citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, noting that a new electronic visa application system will be launched in the coming years.
This comes ahead of the first-ever Gulf-European summit in Brussels on Wednesday, amid complex regional and international conditions.
Christophe Farnaud, the EU ambassador to Saudi Arabia, stated that member states are committed to working towards adopting visa-free arrangements for all Gulf countries.
