Mikati: Lebanese Government Ready to Strengthen Army in the South with Ceasefire

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed today, Tuesday, that the authorities are prepared to strengthen the army’s presence in southern Lebanon if a ceasefire is reached between Hezbollah and the Israeli army, which is conducting “hit-and-run” operations in the area.
In an interview with foreign media, Mikati noted that there are currently 4,500 soldiers in the south, with expectations to increase the number to between 7,000 and 11,000 soldiers.
He also clarified that if a ceasefire occurs, soldiers could be relocated from calmer areas to the south.
