China launched a new earth observation satellite (Qiaofen-12 05) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launching Centre in northwest China on Wednesday.
According to Xinhua, the satellite was launched aboard a Long March 4C carrier rocket, the 540th mission of the rocket series, and successfully entered its designated orbit.
The satellite will be used in a variety of fields, including land surveying, urban planning, road network design, crop yield estimation and disaster relief.
