Ninety-four people were killed when a fuel tanker exploded in the northern Nigerian state of Jigawa on Wednesday, officials said.
Lawan Adamu, the state police spokesman, told Anadolu Agency that an unexplained explosion occurred in a fuel tanker on a road in Jigawa.
The blast killed 94 people and injured at least 50 others who were taken to hospitals for treatment, he said, without explaining the severity of their conditions.
Adamu expressed concern that the death toll was rising.
