Arrest warrant issued for former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina

A Bangladeshi court on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India in August after she was ousted following weeks of protests.

Bangladesh International Crimes Tribunal prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam told reporters: “The court has ordered the arrest of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her appearance before the court on November 18.

Sheikh Hasina, 77, and her government are accused of serious human rights abuses, including arbitrary arrests and extrajudicial executions of political opponents.
