Italian firefighters carried out a series of rescue operations for people affected by floods and landslides caused by heavy rains that hit the country.

The fire department reported that its teams carried out about 350 rescue and damage containment operations between Thursday and Friday in the regions of Liguria, Tuscany, and Emilia Romagna.

Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds are expected to continue over the weekend in most parts of the Italian peninsula.
