Moldovans are participating today, Sunday, in presidential elections and a referendum on joining the European Union, amid concerns about Russian interference in these significant events, while the conflict in neighboring Ukraine continues.
The elections have launched in over 2,200 polling stations within Moldova, with an additional 234 stations abroad. The voting process will continue at the polling centers until 9 PM.
This electoral process is seen as a test of the former Soviet republic’s shift towards Europe under the leadership of President Maia Sandu, who is seeking a second term.
