A committee of local activists reported today, Tuesday, that 31 people were killed in an airstrike carried out by the Sudanese army on a mosque in the city of “Wad Madani” in central Sudan on Sunday.
The Resistance Committee in “Wad Madani,” one of the volunteer groups coordinating aid across the war-torn country, stated in a statement that the attack occurred directly after the evening prayer and targeted Sheikh Al-Jili Mosque and its surroundings in the Western Extension neighborhood, located in the capital of the Gezira state, south of Khartoum.
According to United Nations figures, more than ten million people have been displaced within Sudan or have sought refuge in neighboring countries since the outbreak of hostilities, which have caused widespread destruction of infrastructure and rendered more than three-quarters of healthcare facilities non-operational.
