Hurricane Oscar kills at least 6 people in Cuba

At least six people have died after Hurricane Oscar hit eastern Cuba, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said yesterday (Monday), as most of the island continued to suffer power cuts for the fourth night in a row.
Diaz-Canel said entire areas of Guantanamo province were flooded and rescuers were unable to reach the affected areas. Authorities say at least 1,000 homes have been damaged.
The storm’s collapse of the country’s aging power grid left nearly 10 million people without electricity for the fourth night in a row. Cuba’s power grid was knocked out on Friday morning.

The storm continues to dump heavy rain on eastern Cuba and the southwestern Bahamas, according to the US National Hurricane Centre.
