China has announced that it has reached an agreement with India to ease border tensions between the two countries.
The development brings to an end a four-year border dispute that has strained relations between the two Asian giants, Bloomberg News reported.
Bloomberg quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian as saying at a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday that the two sides: “They made decisions on issues to which China attaches great importance,” adding that the two sides were in “close contact through diplomatic and military channels” on the issue.
Indian Foreign Secretary Subramaniam Jaishankar said an agreement had been reached to allow regular patrols along the 3,488-kilometre (2,167-mile) Himalayan border that separates the two countries.
