Greece: Dozens of irregular migrants rescued in the waters of Samos Island

Greece announced that its coast guard rescued about 40 irregular migrants in the waters of Samos Island.

The Greek coast guard reported that migrants were rescued in a rocky area near the shore, two of them were arrested and handed over to the Chios Island Police, while the others were handed over to the Samos Police.

Greece is a major attraction for migrants from the Middle East, Africa, and Asia heading to the European Union. It is estimated that Greece has received about a million irregular migrants since 2015.
