Voting Begins for the General Elections in Japan

Voting began today, Sunday, in Japan for the general elections, where the Liberal Democratic Party and its ally, Komeito, are striving to maintain a majority in the House of Representatives, which consists of 465 seats.
This is the first general election since 2021, with voters casting two ballots: one to select a candidate in a single-member district and the other to choose a party for proportional representation.
According to NHK, the current elections will announce their results on Monday, with approximately 1,300 candidates competing for 465 seats, following the dissolution of the House of Representatives by the new Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, on October 9.
