QatarEnergy has signed a partnership agreement with TotalEnergies to establish a solar energy project in Iraq as part of the integrated gas growth project. QatarEnergy will acquire a 50% stake in the project, while TotalEnergies will retain the other half.
The project, which is considered one of the major projects in the world, will feature two million high-efficiency solar panels and is expected to provide 1.25 gigawatts of power to the electricity grid in Basra upon completion.
Work is anticipated to commence between 2025 and 2027, enabling it to supply electricity to approximately 350,000 homes.
