Masoud Barzani’s Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) came first in the sixth session of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections with 39 out of 100 seats, Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced today (Wednesday).
According to the results announced by the commission on its official website, the Kurdistan Democratic Party came first with 39 seats, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan came second with 23 seats, the New Generation came third with 15 seats and the Kurdistan Islamic Union came fourth with 7 seats, while the remaining seats were distributed among the other parties.
Since its establishment in the early 1990s, the Kurdistan Region has had five parliamentary sessions, and this is the sixth.
