Spain: Deadly floods sweep through Valencia, killing 51 people

Floods caused by heavy rains in the Valencia region of eastern Spain have killed 51 people, emergency services said on Wednesday.
Heavy rains and strong winds have swept across southern and eastern Spain since the beginning of the week, causing deadly flooding in Valencia and the southern region of Andalusia.

The emergency services wrote on the ‘X’ platform: ‘The preliminary death toll has reached 51 people,’ adding that the bodies of the victims were being identified.

Regional President Carlos Mazón told reporters that parts of the Valencia region had been cut off from electricity and telephone communications and that some places were isolated by flooding, according to AFP.
