Libya’s General Authority for the Search and Recognition of Missing Persons (GASMP) announced on Wednesday that 21 bodies had been exhumed from the Bir al-Osta Milad cemetery in Tajoura over the past 48 hours.
The authority said it had earlier exhumed 25 bodies from the same cemetery, bringing the total number of bodies exhumed from the cemetery and from which DNA samples have been taken to 46.
The Public Authority for Searching and Identifying Missing Persons said the exhumations were carried out in cooperation between the authority’s departments for searching for remains and forensic medicine, and stressed that it would continue its efforts to clarify the fate of the missing and provide assistance to their families.
