North Korea announced today (Thursday) that leader Kim Jong-un had witnessed a ‘decisive’ test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) aimed at strengthening the country’s nuclear deterrent.

This test is an appropriate military action that fully achieves the goal of informing the opponents of our determination to retaliate,’ Kim said during the launch, according to North Korea’s official KCNA news agency.

Seoul said today that North Korea had launched one of its most powerful ballistic missiles in Kim Jong-un’s first weapons test since he was accused of sending troops to Russia.
