Indian soldiers killed two suspected militants during an engagement in the disputed region of Kashmir after a patrol team came under fire, according to the army on Saturday.
The exchange of fire occurred when soldiers moved to investigate suspicious movements near Halqan Gali in Anantnag, resulting in the deaths of the militants.
The “Chinar” Corps of the Indian Army stated on the platform “X” that a joint operation was launched in the area.
Kashmir, which has a Muslim majority, has been divided between India and Pakistan since both countries gained independence from British rule in 1947 and has experienced ongoing insurgency for a long time.
