The death toll from severe storms in eastern and southern Spain has reached 217 as of Sunday, with many citizens still reported missing.

In a related context, the Spanish radio and television agency reported that emergency services in the Valencia region confirmed the deaths of 217 people.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced on Saturday the deployment of 5,000 additional soldiers and 5,000 police officers, while the Spanish government noted that more than 3,600 military personnel are currently in the most affected areas near Valencia.
