An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the north of the country on Sunday evening, Greek authorities said.

The Athens Institute of Geodynamics said the quake struck off the coast of the Chalkidiki peninsula, about 40 kilometres southeast of Thessaloniki, Greece’s second largest city.
The quake struck at 7.03 pm local time (17.03 GMT) at a depth of 15.9 kilometres, the institute said. It added that a magnitude 4.2 earthquake was recorded four minutes later, along with several smaller tremors.
