5 magnitude earthquake hits northwestern Colombia

An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale has struck the department of Pizarro in northwestern Colombia.
There have been no reports of injuries.

The quake struck at a depth of 39.4 kilometres, the US Geological Survey said.

It is worth noting that Colombia was hit by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake in 1999 that left 1,185 people dead, 700 missing, at least 4,750 injured and some 250,000 displaced.
