US election: Voting begins in New Hampshire amid unprecedented ballot box security measures.

Voters in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, headed to the polls early this morning to cast their ballots in the 2024 US presidential election.

Six registered voters in the small northeastern US town cast their ballots at midnight, following a decades-old tradition.

Amid tight security and fears of violence and chaos, the vast majority of polling stations across the country opened their doors this morning (Tuesday) and will remain open into the evening.

Earlier, tens of millions of voters across the country cast their ballots early, either in person at polling stations or by mail. According to the University of Florida’s Election Operations Lab, more than 82 million voters had already cast their ballots by Monday evening.

More than 244 million Americans are eligible to vote for a new president of the United States.

Candidates Donald Trump for the Republican Party and Camilla Harris, current Vice President Biden’s running mate, are competing for the Democratic Party’s nomination.
