Morocco on Thursday secured the position of vice president of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) for the African continent in elections held during the organisation’s 92nd session in Glasgow, Scotland.
This was according to a statement by Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security, a copy of which was obtained by Anadolu, on the sidelines of the session, which runs from 4 to 7 November 2024.
The representative of the Kingdom of Morocco was elected by a majority of the delegates of 96 member states, with a large margin compared to the other candidates, in the voting process that took place during this session,” the statement said.
Morocco nominated Mohamed Dkhissi, Director of the Judicial Police, who heads INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau in Rabat, for the post, the statement said.
