The Sudanese Foreign Ministry on Thursday accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of killing 120 civilians in the past two days in the town of Hilaliya in Gezira State (Central).
This comes as local and international accusations against the RSF of committing ‘violations and mass killings’ against civilians in Gezira State have escalated in recent days, with no comment from the paramilitary forces.
Clashes between the RSF and the army in Gezira state resumed on 20 October.
In December 2023, the RSF, led by Kikel, took control of several towns in Gezira, including Wad Madani, the centre of the state.
Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the RSF have been waging a war that has left more than 20,000 people dead and nearly 13 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations and local authorities.
