The labor unions at the French National Railway Company (SNCF) announced an open-ended strike starting Wednesday, December 11, protesting the dismantling of the “Fret SNCF” division dedicated to rail freight, as well as the terms of liberalization and competition.
According to foreign media, the unions issued a joint statement explaining that the strike would be open-ended and renewable every 24 hours if there is no change from the company’s management.
This strike is expected to affect services, especially during the Christmas holiday period.
