Canada Detects First Suspected Case of H5 Avian Influenza

Canada has reported the first suspected case of avian influenza of the “H5” strain in British Columbia, where the infection was discovered in a boy who is receiving treatment at a children’s hospital.
Officials explained that the virus may have been transmitted to him from a bird or animal, and investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the infection and individuals who may have come into contact with him.
For his part, Canadian Health Minister Mark Holland confirmed that the risk to humans remains low, according to a post on the “X” platform.
