Paris police chief Laurent Nunez has announced a ban on the flying of the Palestinian flag at the France-Israel football match on 14 November.
Nunez said that the match would be held under tight security and that only the French and Israeli flags would be allowed during the game.
Fans attending the match will be subject to security checks and double-checking of identity documents.
There will be 4,000 police and gendarmes on duty to maintain order in Paris and Saint-Denis, where the match will take place.
According to local media reports on Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron will attend the France-Israel match at the Stade de France stadium in Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris.
Israeli authorities have advised their citizens not to attend the match.
The heightened security in France follows tensions and riots in the Dutch capital Amsterdam after fans of the Maccabi Tel Aviv football team chanted racist slogans against Arabs during their match against Ajax on Thursday.
