At the COP29 summit, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed that the UK aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 81% by 2035, exceeding the previous target of 78%.

He stated that this goal aligns with the recommendations of climate advisors and emphasized that emissions from international aviation and shipping would not be included in the plan.

Starmer reassured the public that the government would not impose restrictions on citizens lifestyles to meet this climate target.
