Armed clashes erupted in Haiti’s Capital Port-au-Prince, between police and gangs as the latter attempted to seize control of the main airport.

The violence coincided with the appointment of the businessman Alex Didier Félix-Aimé as Prime Minister for a temporary term amid a worsening democratic crisis fueled by gang violence and political infighting.
