More than 28,000 Filipinos evacuated ahead of Typhoons Toraji and Usagi

The Philippines is on alert and more than 28,000 people have been evacuated as of Wednesday due to Typhoons Toraji and Usagi, which have been battering the country since Monday.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Council (NDRRMC), more than 195,000 people living in five different regions of the country have been affected by the two typhoons, the BNA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing the National Disaster Risk Reduction Council.

It added that more than 28,000 people had been evacuated to evacuation centres, while more than 4,000 people were being assisted in areas outside the centres.

Two people have been injured so far, the agency said.
