Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Ankara on Thursday to chair a meeting of the Qatari-Turkish Supreme Joint Strategic Committee with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after which the two sides are expected to sign investment-related agreements.

The visit, which will focus on investment and trade, comes after Doha announced earlier this week that it had informed the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel that it had suspended efforts to broker a ceasefire and release of hostages in Gaza until the group showed it was ready and  serious about talks.
