Bayern Munich and German national team goalkeeper Maria Luisa Gros has announced her cancer diagnosis and the start of her treatment journey, sidelining her from football for an indefinite period.

Gros expressed her determination to fight the illness with strength, drawing on the support of those around her. The club, in turn, announced the extension of her contract until 2026, reaffirming its full support during this challenging time.

Since joining Bayern in 2019, Gros has won the Bundesliga three times. She was recently called up to the German national team by coach Christian Vok, but she declined due to undergoing a tonsillectomy.
