Turkey imposes a 2 million lira fine on Amazon-owned Twitch due to a data breach

The Personal Data Protection Board in Turkey has imposed a fine of 2 million Turkish liras (approximately 58,000 USD) on the Amazon-owned platform “Twitch” for violating user data.
This came after a data breach of 125 gigabytes, where it was found that the platform failed to implement necessary security measures.

Investigations revealed that the risk assessment was insufficient, affecting 35,274 users in Turkey. As a result, the board imposed fines, including 1.75 million liras for inadequate security and 250,000 liras for failing to report the breach.
Twitch, launched in 2011, specializes in providing live streaming services for video games, as well as other entertainment content such as e-sports and talk shows.
