The British government is seeking to establish extensive agreements with countries in the Middle East and Asia to curb irregular migration flows, similar to those signed by Italy with Libya and Tunisia.
According to the Sunday Times, London has held talks with countries such as Turkey, Iraq, and Vietnam to prevent the departure of illegal migration boats.
These agreements, referred to as “cooperation and security agreements,” are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, inspired by Italy’s success in reducing migration by 62% last year through its deals with Libya and Tunisia.
