Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Monday appointed a new cabinet headed by Mohamed Nadir Larbawi, his first since being elected for a second term last September.

President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune appointed the members of the new government by presidential decree, according to a statement from the Algerian presidency.

Earlier today, Tebboune accepted the resignation of the government led by Prime Minister Mohamed Nadir Larbawi, before renewing his confidence in him and ordering him to continue in office, the Algerian presidency said.

The ministers of foreign affairs, interior, energy, finance and higher education from the previous government retained their posts in the new government.

New names were added to several ministerial portfolios, notably industry, justice, youth and sport, according to the Algerian presidency’s statement.

The new government also created new ministries, merged others and changed the names of some ministries.
