The Iraqi Minister of Planning, Mohammed Ali Tamim, has announced that the census will begin this morning (Wednesday) in all Iraqi provinces and will continue until the end of tomorrow Thursday.
In a statement, Tamim called on all Iraqis to cooperate with the census teams by welcoming them and providing accurate data as this is important in shaping Iraq’s future.
The Iraqi government has imposed a curfew in all provinces of the country, including the Kurdistan Region, for two days Wednesday and Thursday to conduct the census.
The last census in Iraq was conducted in 1997, but the provinces of the Kurdistan Region were not included in the census because they were outside the control of the Iraqi government.
