Libya has won the presidency of the International Olive Council (IOC) for a full year, during the 120th session held in Madrid, Spain.
Libya, Uruguay, and Israel submitted bids to chair the council, while Iran requested an extension of its presidency, but member states voted in favor of Libya.
During the meeting, Libya also received certification for sensory and chemical laboratories, placing it among the countries authorized to issue accredited certificates for exporting olive oil worldwide.
Additionally, the council approved Libya’s request to host the next session in Tripoli, further strengthening its role in promoting the olive industry globally.
