Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday that the Arab group will reject any climate agreement that targets fossil fuels.

A Saudi official at the United Nations climate conference “COP29” in Azerbaijan added that the Arab group will not accept any text that targets specific sectors, including fossil fuels, according to foreign media outlets.

European Union negotiator at the summit, Fopke Hoskter, along with his European colleagues, called for more commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the face of oil-producing countries like Saudi Arabia, which hinder efforts in this regard.
