38 people killed in terrorist attack on passenger buses in northern Pakistan

Thirty-eight people were killed and 29 others injured today in a terrorist attack on passenger buses in Pakistan’s northern Kurram tribal province.

Unidentified gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons on two passenger buses, one travelling to the town of Parchinar and the other to the city of Peshawar, local police said, adding that the gunmen fled into the nearby mountains after the attack.

Security forces rushed to the scene and launched a combing operation to search for the gunmen, while the victims were taken to hospital, she said, adding that no party had yet claimed responsibility.
