The Sudanese army reported today, Saturday, that it has “liberated” the city of Sennja, the capital of Sennar state, from the Rapid Support Forces.
The army spokesperson stated on the “X” platform that the armed forces successfully regained control of the city, emphasizing that military operations would continue until all rebels are defeated.
The conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces erupted in April 2023 due to disagreements over integrating the RSF into the armed forces, leading to widespread displacement, hunger, and ethnic violence across the country.
