China issues yellow alert for snowstorms and cold snap

China issued a yellow alert on Monday for snowstorms expected to hit parts of northeastern China.

According to the China Meteorological Centre, blizzards will hit parts of Inner Mongolia and the provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning from today until tomorrow morning.

Parts of Liaoning will also receive 20-25 mm of snow during the same period.

The centre renewed the yellow alert for the cold wave today, as most parts of central and northern China will see temperatures drop by 6-10 degrees Celsius over the next four days.

China has a four-level weather warning system, with red being the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
