Iraqi Prime Minister Announces Population Reached 45.4 Million in First Census in Over 30 Years

 

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani announced on Monday that the population of Iraq has reached 45.4 million, according to preliminary results from the national population and housing census conducted on November 20, the first since 1987.
Sudani emphasized that the census is a significant step for future planning and development, praising the cooperation of citizens and census teams.
He also noted that 70.3% of the population lives in urban areas, with 7.9 million households in total. Additionally, 60% of the population is of working age, with a population growth rate of 2.3%.
