Yamandú Orsi secured victory in Uruguay’s presidential elections on Sunday after prevailing in the runoff round.
According to preliminary official results, Orsi, the left-wing opposition candidate, led the second round with 49.81% of the votes, surpassing the ruling party’s candidate, Álvaro Delgado, who received 45.90%.
With this win, Orsi is set to assume office as Uruguay’s new president, leading the country from 2025 to 2030.
